RIDE & STRIDE -
Saturday 11th September 2010
The annual Cycle Ride, or Ride and Stride as it is now known, is our principal source of income. The Ride itself is always on the second Saturday in September and is a national event involving all the Historic Churches County Trusts. The formula has remained unchanged since it was originally launched - cyclists or walkers are sponsored and visit as many churches as they wish, the churches are encouraged to be open to welcome the visitors and give refreshments if they wish, and the money raised is then divided equally between the participants chosen church and the County Trust. Results vary across the country, partly reflecting the differing sizes of the counties, but £1.5m was raised nationally in 2009.
